  • Tonk-American Acoustic 1930's - Vintage Sunburst

    £3,699.00Price

Very rare 1930’s Tonk Brothers acoustic. Superb sounding, truly as good as old 30’s Gibson LG2’s: it’s punchy and resonant with mellow trebles and has a balanced and not overpowering bass. It’s had a new bridge and new bone nut and bone intonated saddle. The intonation is very accurate. The neck is straight and action is a remarkable 2 mm on the sixth string and 1.5 mm on the first. It stays in tune. The machines work perfectly, none are bent. It’s a dream to play. It’s superb both for finger picking and for strumming. Very responsive, room filling.

There is no warping or dipping or bellying anywhere. The one little crack to right of finger board has been perfectly cleated and will never move. The front is solid spruce: there are plenty of “honest” playmarks on it, but no nasties (no dings or bangs) on it, or anywhere else. Scale length is 25 1/2”. Well built but very lightweight at 3 lbs 7 oz. It has an unusual oval sound hole.

Comes with perfectly fitting and as new Hiscox case. It plays and sounds better than most £6K thirties Gibson LG2’s.
